Dear Generation Schools Families,
We would like to extend a warm welcome to all returning and new families for our 2017 school year. It truly has been an exciting week. There were so many new faces among our students and staff members, and our existing team did such a tremendous job at making everyone feel right at home.
At our Sunningdale campus, our 9-12 Year Classes were introduced to their new temporary classrooms. The Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh classes settled in quickly, as Joanne and Roxanne showed our new educators, Tessa, Taryn, Heather and Chenelle the ropes and introduced them to the Generation Schools routine.
In our 6-9 Year Group, we introduced our 4th class this year, The Inventors. Amy and Jade did a fantastic job at welcoming all of the new faces to the school and the learners who moved up from the 3-6 Year Group.
Of course, our existing 6-9 Year Classes, (the Discoverers, Adventurers and Explorers) knew exactly what to do and the children spent the week getting back into their routine and participating in new and exciting activities.
As with our 3-6 Year classes and the nest classes, it was such a delight to see our young learners get involved in class activities and playing outside in the courtyard or in the sand pit. For this age group, it is not always easy for parents to bid their young one’s goodbye in the morning or for the little ones to be left behind. However, our educators worked their magic as always, and several parents commented at how happy and excited their children were when they came to pick them up at the end of their school day.
Without bragging too much, we do need to mention the incredible aromas emanating from the kitchen every day. The snacks and meals served up by our very own kitchen team and Chef Asanda, would make anybody who had the opportunity to enjoy her meals love Generation Schools. We suggest you start making your reservations now, Chef Asanda might just open up her restaurant one of these days.
Finally, our Sunningdale Campus opened up our Middle School and welcomed three new lecturers to run the department. Jorita (Head of Department for the Middle School), Andile and Berenike spent the week getting to know their students and introducing them to a new era in education. There were exciting challenges, creative projects and much laughter throughout their orientation week. The lecturers and students alike are definitely looking forward to the week and school year ahead.
With so much news from our Sunningdale campus, we are happy to report that our Hermanus campus had equally as much fun. After months of preparation, we opened our doors this week to our second Generation Schools campus. Under the leadership of Caronne Vermaak (Head of Operations) and an amazing team of staff members, we welcome students and families to what is sure to be an eventful and exciting new
Our very own Generation Schools Founder and Managing Director, Jevron Epstein, spent most of the week meeting and greeting families and students, overseeing the start of our second campus and delivering his very first lecture in Global Perspectives. Jevron will be teaching this subject in the Middle School for both our campuses and we look forward to reporting on how we will be able to deliver our lectures with campuses located so far apart. Watch this space, change in education is coming!
With a successful week behind us, we would like to wish all of our Generation Schools families and staff members a restful weekend ahead and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday.
Stay tuned for more to come and keep an eye on our social media for exciting updates and news. Please subscribe to our blog to keep in touch with what is going on inside the schools.
